              Outsmart Disaster is a statewide campaign to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies.

              Content:

              1. Prepare & Anticipate - Document your business functions and identify the impacts of disruption.

              2. Support Key Stakeholders - Recognize key relationships with suppliers, vendors, and partners; train and care for employees.

              3. Secure & Protect - Strengthen facilities and safeguard data and vital documents.

              4. Adapt & Recover - Understand your insurance and finances and document your contingency options.

              5. Rinse & Repeat - Establish a process to re-assess risk at regular, predetermined intervals and trigger points.

            • Ready.gov is a website that provides information and resources for preparing for emergencies and disasters.

            • The City of Costa Mesa participates in the "Integrated Public Alert and Warning System" (IPAWS).  IPAWS is FEMA's national system for local alerting that provides authenticated emergency and life-saving information to the public through mobile phones using Wireless Emergency Alerts, radio and television via the Emergency Alert System, and on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Weather Radio.

              AlertOC is a mass notification system designed to keep Orange County, California residents and businesses informed of emergencies that may require immediate life saving actions.
